A virtual assistant created by Google is called Google Assistant. It offers capabilities like dialing, sending reminders, searching the web for data, managing home automation equipment, etc.

As a result, it is one of the most beneficial advances for mobile devices in recent years.

The Google Assistant, however, occasionally performs incorrectly. Users are typically prompted with the error “Can’t access Google at the moment” in situations like these.

Precautions to take before utilizing Google Assistant

1. Verify compatibility

Even though Google Assistant has very few system requirements, you should confirm that the device you are using is compatible.

A list of each prerequisite for Google Assistant is provided below:

  • At least version 5.0 of Android
  • At least 1 GB of Memory
  • Display quality must be 720P or above on Google Apps version 6.13 or higher.

How to repair Currently, Google Assistant is unable to contact Google

You can attempt the following fixes to restart Google Assistant.

1. Verify for changes.

Using outdated Android app versions is a common error made by consumers. While you might get away with it for some apps, incompatibility simply doesn’t work with apps like Google Assistant, which heavily rely on internet access.

Ensure that the most recent versions of Google and Google Assistant are installed from the Google Play Store.

Although outdated software is a typical bottleneck that may cause some apps to perform incorrectly, you should also make sure that your Android smartphone is running the most recent version of the operating system.

2. Verify your Internet Connectivity.

The message “Can’t reach Google at the moment” typically indicates that you are attempting to access anything for which the Assistant requires online access to visit Google to retrieve information.

When attempting to use Google Assistant, make sure your device is running an active internet connection. Alternatively, you might attempt to change networks and see if that helps.

It is wise to do this because some networks might not let Google Assistant access the internet.

3. Power cycle your phone.

Google Assistant occasionally has a software bottleneck, just like the majority of Android apps. Then, a quick power cycle can resolve this problem.

Power cycling is the process of turning off a device, waiting a few seconds, and then letting it restart to calibrate.

When using an Android device, doing so is highly recommended because it provides the device time to update its background data and cache memory and realign itself for a more fluid experience.

4. Enable permissions.

For Google Assistant to work correctly, the device needs to grant specific permissions. Ensure that your device’s settings have enabled all Google permissions. Here is how you do it:

  • Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  • Open “Google” and click “Permissions.”
  • Enable all of the app’s necessary permissions.

5. Teach Google Assistant new skills

Google Assistant occasionally malfunctions because it cannot detect your voice. If this is the reason it’s not working for you, all it takes to correct it is a little vocal training. Here is how you do it:

  • Open the Settings app on your Android device
  • Navigate to “Google” and choose “Settings for Google apps”.
  • Locate “Search, Assistant & Voice” and choose Google Assistant
  • Choose “Hello Google & Voice Match”. Set Google Assistant up once more in a clear voice and utilize it as you normally would.
  • Disable any additional assistance on your device.

Nowadays, customers frequently test multiple virtual assistants at once due to the abundance of options.

If you belong to those groups of users, this could be the cause of your Google Assistant’s malfunction.

To reconnect to Google servers via Google Assistant once more, try turning off all other virtual assistants on your phone.

6. Reinstall Google and Google Assistant if necessary.

Data and software for Android apps can occasionally become corrupted, leading to crashes and inappropriate operations.

It’s conceivable that your device experienced the same issue. It can only be located by actually reinstalling the aforementioned software.

Remove Google and Google Assistant from the Play Store by going there. Restart your device now. Restart the computer and then reinstall the programs to see if it resolves the problem.

7. Permit Google servers to load.

Many readers might be surprised to learn that even Google servers occasionally go offline. You could be attempting to use Google Assistant while the servers are offline. It is suggested that you hold off until the servers are operational once more.
