If you feel need to upgrade your kitchen appliances, or you move to the new house where you want a new range for your kitchen. You will see that the freestanding range is easily found everywhere, but mostly people also prefer slide in range.

Some people preferring slide in range, and some prefer a freestanding range, so which appliance is better for your kitchen? If you see, then there is a lot of similarity between slide in and the freestanding ranges, and their cooking features also almost the same. They both placed between the cabinets.

A Slide-in range contains an oven and a burner with controls up front. This range is also wider to lap the countertop for creating the built in look. It is actually designed to sit between the cabinets to give a uniform look.

This range has no back guards, so many homeowners who own this installed tiles behind the range where it places against the wall.

  • Main Difference Between Slide in and Freestanding Range:

Difference#1:

Installation. The installation is the main difference between the slide in range and freestanding range. A slide in range is actually designed to build into the cabinet, and because of this, they have no finished sides.

And the freestanding range has finished sides and build to sit between the cabinets or on their own. It gives the flexibility to install the oven either at the end or in the cabinets.

Another installation difference is that a slide-in range has hardwired, and a freestanding range can easily plug-in into the outlet.

Difference#2:

Control Location. A Freestanding range has the back guards with a burner control, oven control, or both and blocks the backsplashes. A Slide-in range has not the back guards and allows a cleared view of the backsplash. This range is not restricted to place in the opposite of the wall.

Difference#3:

Clean-Ability. A Freestanding range sits on their own, and there is a small place between the adjacent cabinets and an overtop surface where liquids or food fall. A slide-in range has a cooktop surface that lapping around the cabinets and offer more clean-ability.

Difference#4:

Look. Because of the presence of a cooktop surface with the overlapping, a slide-in range offers a built-in desirable and professional look in an exciting or new kitchen than a freestanding range.

So here are the main differences between slide-in and freestanding range, and by understanding the factors that make them different from each other helps you to choose which is perfect for your kitchen. If you have an exciting kitchen, then you select the range according to your fixed space.
